The Covid-19 pandemic put a halt to many gatherings throughout 2020. However, the hope of a vaccine has the industry bouncing back. While the logistics for some events, like MATS, are still in the works, and other events, including GATS, have been canceled for safety concerns, there are some exciting events to look forward to this year. Mark your calendars and get registered for these great conferences that are sure to be packed with valuable information, enjoyable experiences, and great networking opportunities.
Be sure to verify all dates, as many event organizers make it clear that all dates, times, places, and offerings are subject to change. Follow event announcements closely and be prepared for cancellations or shifts to virtual formats.
Events for April
When: April 12-15
Where: Orlando, FL
TMC’s Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition remains the premier event for fleet management, offering a comprehensive array of information vital to your company’s growth and success. This annual celebration of technical leadership and innovation includes more than 100 industry task forces to resolve critical industry issues along with a broad offering of technically oriented educational sessions. They are working closely with health department officials to ensure all vendors’, speakers’, and attendees’ health and safety.

Where: Las Vegas, NV
With 100 exhibitors, 25 sessions, and 50 speakers, Truckload 2021 includes education sessions, insightful panel discussions, engaging keynote speakers (including Daymond John of ABC’s Shark Tank), and dozens of networking opportunities. You’ll also have the chance to visit the exhibitor’s hall to learn about the latest in trucking innovation.

When: May 4-6
The annual, 3-day road check event when CVSA-certified inspectors conduct compliance checks, enforce safety regulations and offer educational opportunities regarding safe commercial vehicle operations. This year’s event focuses on driver operating requirements and vehicle mechanical fitness.

Where: Kenly, NC
This free event, hosted by Kenly 95 Petro in Kenly, North Carolina, offers vendor exhibits, concerts, networking, and fun! You don’t need a ticket or to register in advance. Just show up and enjoy the event. If you’d like to show off your truck, be sure to register for the truck show!
When: May 9
Where: Lancaster, PA
Format: In-person, tentatively virtual
Join Make-a-Wish® supporters in the trucking industry and help raise money to grant wishes for children with critical illnesses. Your participation and fundraising efforts help bring joy to local kids. Covid conditions permitting will feature a parade viewing route, BBQ, fundraising auction, and carnival. If an in-person event is not possible, an online event will be hosted to celebrate the participants’ fundraising success.
Events for June
When: June 1-5
Where: Harrisonburg, Va
You’ll find an antique truck show, talks and historical stories, vendors, demonstrations, and plenty of social activities at this unique event. You can also take tours that trace the steps of Patsy Cline, visit the home of Thomas Jefferson, and delve deep into the largest caverns in the United States. Be sure to register in advance, and sign up for a golf cart rental so you can get around the grounds in style.
When: June 13-15
Where: Cincinnati, OH
This unique event, hosted by the only trade association in the United States devoted exclusively to the interests of the private corporate trucking fleet industry and its professional practitioners, offers education, discussions, events, and exhibits that provide practical benefits for private trucking companies. CTPs can also earn 25 recertification points for participating in the National Safety Conference during this event.
When: June 18-19
Where: Macungie, PA
The ATCA is dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and operation of antique trucks. At this year’s 42nd annual National Meet, you’ll get a taste of all that their club has to offer. This free public event features a large display of historical trucks and vehicles, a flea market, and a lot of family-friendly fun. Due to Covid, the family reunion portion of the event has been canceled. Some special guidelines have been put in place for the remaining events to ensure that everyone has a safe, enjoyable experience.
Events for July
When: July 8-10 (moved from June)
Where: Walcott, IA
This annual social gathering takes place at Iowa 80, dubbed “the world’s largest truck stop.” You’ll find an antique truck show, a truck beauty contest, exhibits, cookouts, live music, contests, and more. The event is free, but you have to sign up for the competitive and showcase events in advance.
When: July 11-17
Where: Various locations
Format: In Person
Operation Safe Driver Week focuses on heightened traffic safety enforcement and education aimed at combating unsafe driving behaviors by both commercial motor vehicle and passenger-vehicle drivers. Activities are held by law enforcement agencies across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, focusing on commercial vehicle and non-commercial vehicle traffic enforcement, safety belt enforcement, driver roadside inspections, and driver regulatory compliance.
Events for August
When: August 22-28, and an unannounced inspection day
Where: Various locations
Get ready to stop for a brake inspection in August! During both the announced and unannounced brake safety campaigns, inspectors will conduct random inspections on commercial trucks and busses throughout the country. These inspections aim to reduce the number of incidents and accidents caused by preventable brake maintenance issues. While most inspections conducted are Level IV, be prepared for any inspection level the officials deem necessary.

Format: In-person and virtual
This special, annual event allows us, as a nation, to celebrate and appreciate our country’s workforce of trucking professionals. Carrier companies, truck stops, fueling stations, and even individuals and communities participate by giving gifts, organizing events, and sending letters of appreciation. Check with your local or state trucking associations to see what’s happening in your area during this event.
